TITLE: METER ROUTE CONTROL CLERK

 

ORGANIZATION UNIT: Customer Accounting Department - Meter Reading Division

 

APPLICABLE TO: City

 

DUTIES:

 

Under general supervision and by use of independent judgment, to map, plat or chart new streets and subdivisions to determine proper meter routes, folio or account numbers and verify the accuracy of service addresses; originate folio,. street or municipal boundary change orders; recommend and assist in meter rerouting; conduct special studies covering all phases or meter reading; and to perform related work as assigned. In this connection, to perform details of work, such as:

 

Plat and chart new streets and subdivisions on meter reading maps from information on executed new business orders, notifications from builders, postal or municipal authorities and occasional field checks; from maps and other office records,

assign proper meter routes and folio or account

numbers to new service locations.; re-route meter

reading assignments which are too heavy or too

light due to population shifts; originate necessary

papers to inform departments affected of changes

in service addresses, folios or municipal boundaries; develop individual meter route maps and reading.

statistics and reports.

 

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For special watchfulness in mapping new streets and subdivisions; for accuracy of folio account number and meter route assignments; for careful checking and reporting on municipal boundary lines; for making certain proper departments are informed of correct service addresses to assure uniformity of Company records; and for keeping current meter reading maps and other records.

With supervisors and clerks in. Customer Accounting, Customer Busi­ness, Electrical Distribution, Sales and Meter Departments in connection with determination of correct service addresses and. the. accuracy of office records.

Occasionally with builders, municipal and postal authorities to gain knowledge of new streets and subdivisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High school graduate or the equivalent, with a course in.draft­ing or map work at night school or by correspondence.

 

Must be familiar with the routines and records employed in taking and executing customers' orders and in subsequently orginating and maintaining reading and accounting records.

 

Must be accurate,a good penman, be patient and courteous when contacting others.
