TITLE: COMPUTER OPERATOR I

 

ORGANIZATION UNIT: Information Technology - Data Operations DUTIES:

 

Under indirect and intermittent supervision to perform the following job duties:

 

Provide courteous service for all walk-up customers and e-mail requests. Instruct customers on use and assist in completing e-ticket job request. Maintain ticket history/cost, order supplies, deliveries in the General Office Building and monitor quality of finished product.

 

Perform all duties necessary to scan and print documents to file, disk or hard copy from electronic or hard copy formats. Perform server and/or machine configurations for various job setups. Improve quality, realign/shift, proof, add graphics, fold, staple, tape, bind and create tabs or other pages to the document. To maintain separation between the Reproduction Service Operator and Console Operator responsibilities and command authority, various system controls will be implemented. The intent of these controls is to limit the access of the Reproduction Service Operator to only those commands necessary to operate the printers and control the various print files.

 

Perform all duties necessary to ensure the continuous and correct operation of mainframe printing resources, to include but not limited to forms loading and unloading, equipment operation and control through various control screens, management of print jobs through mainframe consoles using various command syntaxes.

 

Set up machines to convert to the various types of printing, binding, cutting and drilling. Perform general maintenance and simple repair of machinery. Utilize several types of tools in the performance of job duties. Perform various types of finishing, drill, cut, punch, bind, fold, pad or laminate.

 

Detect various machine/software problems. Determine and follow through with the proper method of correcting the problem.

 

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·           Care in operation of equipment

·           Prevent wasteful use of materials

·           Maintain the confidentiality of the reports and letters requested for printing

·           Check document for errors, proof output

·           Comply with report auditing procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Subject to noise, heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time and deadline stress. QUALIFICATIONS :

·         Mechanical ability
