Burke Leaving Local 1455 for Missouri Democratic Party

Posted On: Dec 09, 2011 (07:53:24)

After three years with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1455, Brittany Burke is leaving her post as the Communications Coordinator.  Burke has accepted a position with the Missouri Democratic Party for the 2012 election cycle.  She will be responsible for the party's website and social media, as well handling some press and social media for the down ballot races as the election cycle picks up next year.

As the Communications Coordinator,  Burke developed and maintained the Local’s website and new media, putting 1455 ahead of the curve for labor union use of electronic media and improving membership communication.   She also  helped create  the start of a virtual office making decades of documents available at the click of the mouse.

A Webster University alum,   Burke began her career in St. Louis as an assignment editor and web producer at KPLR-TV and then went on to produce various morning shows at KTRS AM Radio.

In 2010 Burke took a leave of absence to work on Secretary of State Robin Carnahan’s U.S. Senate Campaign.  Earlier this year, she was the Communications Director for St. Louis County Executive Jake Zimmerman’s transition team.

Burke’s last day with IBEW Local 1455 is December 13, 2011.
